The Computer Programmer IV supports the Acquisition Readiness (AR) Performance Assessment (PA) Information Technology Support Services (ITSS) contract out at NSWC Corona. The NSWC Corona Division organizes its efforts into specialized technical capability areas, which include Warfare Systems Performance Assessment, Acquisition and Readiness Assessment. Corona Division provides a disciplined process for measuring and managing material readiness using custom tools, databases, data lakes, data warehouses and business intelligence interfaces in order to provide authoritative metrics, trends, and drivers. Additionally, Corona Division provides quantitative performance assessment using custom analysis tools to process and visualize data for the US Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard combat systems (including sensors, track management and weapon interface), fleet interoperability and weapon systems and provide analysis products to sponsor decision makers.


These technical capabilities span multiple technical departments. The technical capability areas, coupled with complementary business capabilities, compose a collaborative work environment dedicated to providing objective information and assessment products, defense systems analysis and evaluation expertise, and related technology toprogram offices, defense-related support infrastructure, and operating forces.


The Computer Programmer IV applies expertise in programming procedures to complex programs; recommends the redesign of programs, investigates and analyzes feasibility and program requirements, and develops programming specifications. Assigned programs typically affect a broad multi-user computer system which meets the data processing needs of a broad area (e.g., manufacturing, logistics planning, finance management, human resources, or material management) or a computer system for a project in engineering, research, accounting, statistics, etc. This Programmer plans the full range of programming actions to produce several interrelated but different products from numerous and diverse data elements, which are usually from different sources; solves difficult programming problems, and uses knowledge of pertinent system software, computer equipment, work processes, regulations, and management practices. This Programmer performs such duties as: developing, modifying, and maintains complex programs; designs and implements the interrelations of files and records within programs which will effectively fit into the overall design of the project; works with problems or concepts and develops programs for the solution to major scientific computational problems requiring the analysis and development of logical or mathematical descriptions of functions to be programmed; and develops occasional special programs, e.g. a critical path analysis program to assist in managing a special project.


This position requires a SECRET clearance. Interim clearances are acceptable.


There may be travel required. While work is mostly performed at the Saalex facility in Corona and at the NSWC Corona facility, you may need to perform work other NSWC facilities in Greece, Spain, Germany, Norway, Australia, and other areas; and In the field around the world (aboard ship, test ranges, shipyards/ports, open ocean and military bases).
